  69. I think the biggest reason why you guys are all having trouble with Gravis
  70. not answering your mail, whether it be tech support mail, or mail to John
  71. Smith or Jayeson, is the fact that their computer, which polls the net
  72. from time to time to pick up and send out the mail, doesn't do a very good
  73. job at all.

  75. Jayeson Lee-Steere is my friend and certainly he of all people would
  76. answer my mail promptly but often he doesn't even get the messages I send
  77. him.  He's emailed me a couple of times to the effect of:

  79. Please ignore this message.  I'm mailing out so the damn bloody stupid
  80. mail proggy will go out and get the mail.

  82. So it's not entirely their fault I don't think.

  119. Running a 1 meg GUS in a 386-40, I've noticed an odd situation when running
  120. programs that include volume and balance controls.  With Sound Impressions,
  121. when I try to slide the left or right volume controls, the right slider does
  122. nothing, while the left slider controls the total volume.  The board sounds
  123. fine, i.e., stereo is stereo, etc., but programs with right & left volume
  124. sliders seem to all act the same way in different programs.  Moving the right
  125. slider does nothing while the left slider affects the total volume.  Anyone
  126. else notice this?  Is this normal for the GUS or do I have a defective card
  127. or hook-up somewhere?  I don't seem to be able to control left and right 
  128. balance, only total volume.  Yet the card sounds fine playing CD's, waves,
  129. midis, etc.  I'd just like to know why I can't seem to control right & left
  130. volume.  Any feedback or tips appreciated.  Thanks,

  158. I have experienced some software problems with my new GUS.
  159. First of all the winsetup hangs, although I can still move
  160. my mouse around, nothing else happens.
  161. Secondly I've had some problems with ultrajoy. After running ultrajoy 16,
  162. setgus.exe reports a sb/midi irq timeout. Anybody ever heard of that?

  178.     For those who wants to use MegaEM with Lands Of Lore, but cannot 
  179. select two soundcards, I sent the Lands Of Lore update on epas.  It's 
  180. been sitting in my hard drive for months.  I thought it was already 
  181. available on epas. :)
  182.     While doing that, I also sent the update to bring your LOL game 
  183. to version 1.11a.  Some bugs are fixed.
  184.     The music in Lands Of Lore is one of the best I've heard!  It is 
  185. excellent and MegaEM does an excellent job.

  212. I know this question has been asked before but never seen an answer on
  213. the digest.
  214. How do you get POP2 to run with Megaem?  Is it possible to get digitized
  215. sounds and MIDI music?
  216. I have setup POP2 to work with SB for sounds and MT-32 for music,
  217. but after I load Megaem and POP2 I get a message saying digitized sounds
  218. will not be played because I don't have enough extended/expanded memory,
  219. then it HANGS!

  222. 386DX-25, 8 MB RAM, ATI Ultra+ 2MB, DOS6.0, EMM386 (with EMS),

  246. I'm not sure if this cheat has been posted before 'cause I've been a bit slack
  247. in reading the digest.  Anyway here it is...

  249. In order to get a multi-ball do the following:
  250.     Press ESCAPE
  251.     Press B
  252.     Press N
  253.  
  254. A second ball will appear about a third of the way up the table.  This can be
  255. repeated as often as necessary but you can only have a maximum of two balls
  256. at once.

  258. If you carry this out without releasing the original ball you can ball the
  259. game almost indefinitely (but you only get to see the bottom half of the 
  260. screen).
  261.  
  262. The scores go back to zero if you score over 5000,000,000.

  302. I want to check that it is going to work with my UMC chipped motherboard
  303. before I go out and spend. I've heard that the chip to look out for is
  304. the 82C206, and that the bad ones have "datacode" 9149. I had a look at
  305. my motherboard this morning and found a chip labelled...

  311.     I presume that this means my chip is "datacode" 9251 and therefore
  312. everything will be OK, but I would be real grateful if someone could confirm
